People

A listing and links to the various people involved in parquet deformation, largely for the sake of general interest (and subject to revision). The only criteria for inclusion is at least one parquet deformation of some description to their name; I make no judgments as to quality in this particular instance. Further, I also include instances here that can be deceived as borderline, in that the interpretation of a Huff-style parquet deformation is loosened somewhat. Some of these are included as a ‘seen and noted’ premise, rather than leaving these out altogether. For most people, overall, there is typically only a handful of parquet deformations for any one individual; very few people have ‘many’, say more than 10. Although unlikely, given the passage of time, I would be more than delighted to hear from any of Huff’s students here, and more broadly, from other people as well. Time constraints forbid me reaching out to all. On occasions, with continual additions, reordering of the parts and change of presentation, there may be the occasional name inconsistency/omission. Over time, this will be corrected. Of a simple count, Huff’s students number 73, with all other people 40. 122 people (up to 18 August 2021) overall are identified.

The listing is in three parts, with names in alphabetical order, with surname, first name. This is then followed by the work’s title and year, where known:

Part 1 lists William Huff’s students throughout his years at Ulm, Carnegie-Mellon, and Buffalo Universities.

Part 2 lists ‘other people’ in the field, excluding Huff’s students.

Part 3 is effectively an overall listing, of (i) of all the people and (ii) differentiating between Huff’s students and other people, with Huff’s students highlighted in blue.

* William Huff. Although it is stated that Huff has not composed a single example, he can hardly be excluded from this listing!

*Robert Williams. Williams is included with a degree of reservation. He is oft-quoted (relatively so) in the (limited) parquet deformation literature, although he does not strictly show any instances but rather this is implied. See p. 204 (a Cairo tiling from minima to maxima), albeit of individual stages. It is not a Huff-style instance in the normal sense. Whether to include it is a moot point. Therefore to stop the reader wondering about an inadvertent omission I have decided to include.
